Apple Week at Kurn Hattin
September 18, 2012 | Westminster, VT–The Kurn Hattin children just wrapped up Apple Week, one of the four science class experiential learning sessions on the campus farm. With farm manager, Patrick Barry and their science teachers, the children learn about the numerous varietals of apples followed by the art of cider making from pressing to bottling.
The pressed pulp doesn’t go to waste as it becomes food for the farm pigs. The children truly enjoy learning to make the cider and of course drinking the fruit of their labor. Pictured are two students discussing putting apples onto the conveyor belt leading to the press.
