On March 6, Dr. Kristopher Bianconi from Newark Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, NJ and Dr. Alessandra Petrillo Bianconi from Stonybrook University Hospital in Stonybrook, NY visited Kurn Hattin Homes. They talked about perseverance, goal setting, healthy lifestyles, and kindness. They answered many of the students’ questions including: Why did you want to become a doctor, do you have any role models, do you dislike anything about your job, what obstacles did you have to overcome to be successful and do you ever have rude patients? Dr. Bianconi and Dr. Petrillo Bianconi answered each question and emphasized the importance of never giving up on your dream. They also expressed that your goals can change throughout life, and although there may be many obstacles, reach out to others for support. Find good role models and work hard. The social skills program has been working on perseverance and goal setting. The children enjoyed hearing the guest speakers as part of their school curriculum.
