31st Annual Conference with Jessica Minahan, Ph.D., BCBA
Since 2000, Jessica’s work has focused on helping clinicians, teachers, and parents identify and understand the variables that cause children with anxiety, trauma, and other mental health challenges to act inappropriately.
With up to one in three children struggling with anxiety in this country, overwhelmed adults require a new approach as well as a practical and easy-to-implement toolkit of strategies that work.
Through case studies, humorous stories, and examples of everyday
challenging situations, participants will learn easy-to-implement preventive tools, strategies, and interventions for reducing anxiety, increasing self-regulation, promoting accurate thinking, and enhancing self-monitoring in students.

Participants will be able to:
- Describe the relationship between anxiety and working memory.
- Identify why common interventions may not always work for students with anxiety-related behavior.
- Describe why traditional breaks might not promote regulation with anxiety or trauma histories.
- Enumerate strategies for reducing negative thinking and resistance toward writing.
- Identify strategies to promote initiation skills in students with work avoidance.
