Kurn Hattin 19th Annual Choral Invitational Benefits Food Shelf

March 20, 2011

March 17, 2011 | Westminster, Vermont– March is Music in Our Schools Month and for the last 19 years, Kurn Hattin Homes has hosted an Annual Choral Invitational.

This year, students from seven area school choruses sang to a standing room only audience. The schools participating were Bellows Falls Middle School, Director, Joan LeClair, Leland and Gray Middle School and the Leland & Gray A Cappella Group, Director, Ron Kelley, St. Joseph School, Director, Vicki Moore, Walpole Middle School, Director, Jared Stolper, Fall Mountain Regional High School Madrigal Singers, Director, Maricel Lucero and Kurn Hattin Homes, Director, Lisa Bianconi. Each school chorus performed three selections from a wide repertoire to a resounding applause. For the finale, everyone including the audience sang, “America, The Beautiful.” Canned good donations were collected and given to Our Place, the community food shelf in Bellows Falls.

On Wednesday, April 6, Kurn Hattin will also be hosting the Kurn Hattin Jazz Band Invitational at 7 p.m. Donations taken at the door will benefit the Haitian Relief Fund. The Kurn Hattin Student Council has made a long-term commitment to support two orphanages in Haiti. Donations taken at the door will benefit this project.
