Kurn Hattin 7th Grader Attains Second Place in VT VFW Patriots Pen Essay Contest

Alex Lowe, III, a 7th grader at New England Kurn Hattin Homes for Children, has been awarded Second Place in the Vermont Veterans of Foreign Wars Patriots Pen Essay Contest. Lowe, from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, won the Carl M. Dessaint VFW Post 1034 competition as well as the District competition and was awarded a plaque, a backpack with a notebook, a pen, commemorative pins, and two flags: the United States flag and a Patriots Pen flag. He was also awarded two certificates in honor of his accomplishments as well as monetary gifts. Thirty-two Kurn Hattin students, grades 7-8, as well as over 200 Vermont students competed in the annual contest. Congratulations Alex! Kurn Hattin Proud.
