Thank you Veterans

Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis writing his winning essay

Kurn Hattin Homes for Children’s 25th Annual Veterans’ Day Observance was virtual this year. After presentation of the flag, Pledge of Allegiance, and our National Anthem recording, several children read their Patriots’ Pen Essays on Patriotism. First Place essayist, eighth grader, Anthony Davis wrote:  According to Wikipedia, ‘Patriotism or national pride is the feeling of love, devotion, and sense of attachment to a homeland and alliance with other citizens who share the same sentiment. This attachment can be a combination of many different feelings relating to one’s own homeland, including ethnic, cultural, political or historical aspects.’  I believe that accountability, commitment, and devotion are the three most important aspects of what makes up patriotism, Anthony wrote.

Thank you to teachers Richard Long, Kristie Lisai, Jen Leonard, and Lisa Bianconi for coordinating this year’s event.  But mostly, thank you to all Veterans who have served and kept our country safe and free.
